The question is phrased poorly. There were several routes by which Europeans thought to get to Asia or to penetrate deep into the interior.
The most famous were the Northeastern and Northwestern Passages. These routes were impassible at the time however modern climate changes have opened them up. Shipping lanes North of Eurasia and North America are being claimed, charted, navigated as I write.
Colombus sailed due west from Europe to get to Asia. He died believing he had. He never realized he'd reached entirely different shores.
Magellan reached Asia by going west around the world.
Many explorers tried to get into southwestern China by going up the Mekong, & the Yangtse. As far as I know, Europeans knew the Indian rivers and the Brahmaputra River were impassible one in the Himalaya.
So that they could find faster ways to get to asia through the sea
The long coastline and accessible water routes make it possible for most European countries to participate in commerce.
why
No bodies of water border the European Union. It is an organisation, not a place. It has 28 countries as members, and lots of bodies of water border them.
It was the center of trade because it stood in the crossroads of Europe and Asia making them in the center of trade, making them fabulously rich & wealthy. *This message was made by kels davis*
Athens explorers of this time wanted a water trade route to replace the overland route of the Silk Road. The overland routes were long, dangerous and goods often didn't reach the European markets. It was reasoned that water route was faster, ships could carry more items, and less dangerous.
No
Water's proximity has had a significant impact on Europe's culture by shaping trade routes, influencing culinary traditions, and fostering a strong connection to maritime activities such as fishing and sailing. Countries with coastlines or rich river systems often have a strong seafaring history, which has influenced art, music, and even language in many European cultures.
The European explorers voyages had multiple purposes. One was to find new trade routes to Asia in order to bypass the Ottoman Empire and gain direct access to valuable goods. Another purpose was to discover new lands, resources, and potential colonies for European powers to expand their influence and wealth. Additionally, the voyages were driven by a desire to spread Christianity and convert indigenous populations to the faith.
The body of water that is surrounded by Middle East Africa and some of the European countries would be the Indian Ocean. It does not take up as much space as the other bodies of water, but is present within these areas itself.
A decline in trade is the effect of the success of Portuguese trade on other European nations in general and on the Italian city of Venice in particular.Specifically, Venice is located on the northeastern side of the Italian peninsula. It therefore represents one of Europe's most convenient and hallowed meeting points, by land and water, for traders from the West and those from the East. The Portuguese land routes through, and sea routes around, Africa served as major competition to accessing the products of such exciting, exotic Eastern countries as modern-day China and India.
