For the most part, there were not many battles in Texas during the US Civil War. Texas was in a manner of speaking, off the beaten trail in the war. It's coastline on the Gulf of Mexico was important, however, based on the way the war was fought, the eastern US and the midwest were the most important places in the war.

Because Texas was considered only a secondary front, with but no important strategic objective, excepted the port of Wilmington.

Once the Union gained the full control upon the Mississippi River, Texas saw its importance declining further, limiting its contribute to the Confederacy's war efforts to "smuggle " a few of provision and supply across that river, and trading with Mexico the goods carried by the blockade runners through Wilmington.

Because it was considered a minor strategic theatre of operation, particularly after the Union had gained the control over the whole Mississippi.
