The ignition keys have an anti-theft chip in them. Over time the coating that protects the chip can wear out and the chip doesn't work. The anti-theft device in the car has to reset itself every time you try to start the car which can take 10 minutes or longer. You'll probably need to replace the ignition key at a dealership or certified shop.
Have you checked the computer codes? If so, what do they say?
A 1996 Pontiac Bonneville requires 5.7 quarts of oil in the crankcase. The oil filter should also be changed with the oil.
The battery on a 2005 Pontiac Montana is changed by raising the hood, loosening both of the battery cables, and lifting them off the posts. The old battery can then be lifted out, a new battery put in, and the cables reattached.
You should check the wires that are in the steering column to the ignition lock cylinder. They tend to break easily.
it could be a fuse there are 2 fuse blocks in a Bonneville under the hood and under the back seat.
i have changed all my bulbs for a 1994 Bonneville still i have no tail lights for nite driving
They need to be at 700 cca. I recently had my battery changed and te AAA guy said that I had the wrong size battery in the car (I had 600 cca).
On the hub.. that you need to replace because you cant just get the wheel baring for the bonneville... you got 3 bolts that need to come out you take them out you get the hub out... put the new hub back in put the 3 bolts in there and put your tire back on. Then there ya go you jus changed your wheel baring.
Changed the ignition?? The key tumbler? The switch itself? The parts under the hood? IF the key, was the part in the column in good condition. Did the key assembly seat properly? If the switch itself, it is adjustable to a degree and may not be in the right place. Under the hood? Depends of what was changed.
I have a 92 Bonneville thet needs a crank sensor how do you change it Crank sensor is on the pulley and the teeth on the pulley sits inside of it for a megnetic response for computer. It is held on by two small bolts. I changed my own on my 3.8L and my car doesnt want to shift correctly. You are able to adjust and its very picky where the correct position is.
I have changed the fuel pump on my 1993 Pontic Bonneville, it still is stalling any clues why? could be Fuel Pressure Regulator http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AKtR_yF7bi8&feature=related
