The Windstar most likely has a part that is breaking down when it heats up. Check the ignition coil and crank position sensor to start trying to find the problem.

Very hard to say. But, one of the ways is to keep trying to start the engine and it will not fire, and you continue to crank the engine. Fuel pumped into the intake will pass thru the rings and into the engine oil. But, to empty the fuel tank???
