: There is a pawl located in the wiper motor that tells the motor when to shut off and leave the wipers in the parked position. : if your wiper blades park in the vertical position, this pawl has broken off. : the motor more than likely needs replacing.
when u turn wipers off they stay at up position. while in up position remove wiper arms from vehicle then place wiper arms at down position and renistall on wiper motor shaft. that should fix the problem
Because there is too mutch friction between it and the windsheild.
why is it after I hooked up the linkage for my wipers the wipers stay in the upright position after I turn them off.
The car wipers should not stay up but return to their original position. The wipers will stay up if the wiper motor, the wiper controller and the wiper linkage are faulty.
the best way is to have the wipers pointing up. turn the wiper switch on low with the key off, then turn the key on till the wipers point up then quickly turn the key back off. now you can pull the arm/blade away from the window (the wiper will be flopping around a little) at the end of the arm, the metal curves down to make a kind of hook. at the end of the hook is a little tab. push the tab in and this allows the wiper blade to slide off the hook. its off!
Turn the wiper switch to the on position. Turn the key on and as soon as the wipers go straight up then turn them off. That will make it easier to remove the blade. Lift the wiper away from the windshield while pulling down. Be sure to not let the wiper fall against the windshield. Push the new one in place and you are done.
The wiper arms could be loose or out of time. Check the wiper arms to make sure that they are not loose or have slipped at the motor, causing a timing issue.
The "park" signal on the wiper motor is off. The wipers should stay off their cradles about an inch or so. If the ignition key is turned off during an intermittent wipe, the blades may stay at some position on the windshield. They'll return as soon as the next cycle comes up after the ignition is turned on. If they do not behave this way, you likely have a bad wiper motor assembly, which has the control circuit that parks the blades.
this happed to me, take off the plastic cover where the wiper arms ends, it just pops off their is a pin in there that wont go down, just spray it with WD-40 until it is saturated wait a few min. then it will go down.
Hit snooze/stay asleep Turn it off Get up Groan
the park switch inside the wiper moter has gone bad
Remove wiper cap. Then take a 13mm wrench and take off the nut. the pull wiper in the up position and jiggle back and forth and wiper will come off
