slave cylinder
You may need to adjust your clutch or replace your clutch.
There is ( or should be ) a switch on your brake pedal lever that tells your brake lights to come on. Could this switch be incorrectly mounted on your clutch pedal instead? Do you have a switch on each pedal? If you do the one on your clutch is so the car won't start unless the clutch is depressed. It might have the wires reversed or the switches might both be mounted on the wrong pedal.
broken clutch cable could also be a shot slave cylinder...this will cause the clutch pedal to not come back up.
Sounds like you have broken the 'clutch return spring' in the transmission or if it's hydraulic you may be out of clutch fluid (leaking)
To my understanding, the saying is rightly "put the pedal to the metal", and would come from pressing a car's accelerator all the way down to the metal flooring. does the car seem to loose power when the pedal has slack in it. sounds like you have a worn out clutch that is slipping. this needs to be replaced or adjusted
Check for a spring at the very top of the pedal itself, running from the pedal above the pivot point to the firewall. The spring is likely to have come loose and be attached at one end or the other but not both.
I assume you mean the pedal came off. Did it break or did the retainer clip that holds the pedal on the shaft come off? It may just be a case of putting it back together and maybe a new C clip or cotter pin.
You've blown a clutch hose by the sound of it, or you've got a leak in the clutch master or slave cylinder. Either way, without clutch fluid, the clutch pedal wont come off the floor and the clutch will be disengaged. Any half decent mechanic should be able to figure out what the issue is without charging and arm and a leg.
TAke it to a garage as there is a leak and it may need new parts. Bleeding the system is very hard also.
Check the brake pedal sensor sounds like this is your problem assuming that you are pressing the pedal while trying to shift out of park
Someone mounted the brake light switch on the wrong pedal?
