Just so you know I found out is a problem with that year. I have a 1985 I'm restoring and I had trouble coming home in it after spending a fortune on all new injectors etc and it didn't run properly at all. It's a manufacturing problem for sure. I seem to have found it only like to be driven fairly hard. Shifts fine then. I don't recommend it tho. SOrry if you find anything out let me know.

Look on the top of the transmission. The shift cable attaches to a "box" with a wire harness attached. That's it. Look on the top of the transmission.
