Does your information center disappear when you try to crank. Do you hear anything happening when you try to start? You should hear the starter solenoid operate. A low or bad battery or the connections cause poor battery connection and poor charging also. Spray WD40 on all connections. Head lights work? - NO? Look at battery. Yes? Look at the 12 volts that must feed the starter solenoid when the ignition is turned to start. A cheapie voltmeter is a real useful detecctive in these type of problems.
It's under a panel door that says FUSES on it that's under the dash over the brake pedal.
I would say that you are losing coolant somewhere hoses, water pump, radiator.

Yes, it's gray and it's on the upper part of the firewall near the alternator.

The compression tester has a plug that goes in the spark plug hole and reads the compression within the cylinder. Remove the sparkplugs. (Mark the plug wires with masking tape so you can put them back where they belong) Insert the compression tester and have someone activate the starter and roll the engine over a few times.
There's a big, black plastic cover over the blower motor under the hood under the firewall. It's just behind the alternator.
You have something over the sensor on top of the dash that is blocking the thing from working?
Try turning it over and listen,, if it sounds different like it's turning over real fast or easyiser than normal,, my money would be on the timing belt /chain is broke. Big expense if it is. Most likely have to take it in to find out for sure. I had one go just like that on my olds and it was over $800.
you may have a loose wire to starter
Does it turn over? yes Does it have fuel? yes Does it have spark?yes Does it have compression? Is timing set correctly? ( bad timing chain?)
