Have the ignition module checked out and find a new mechanic. Also change the fuel filter.
My 94 escort was doing the same thing. I replaced the throttle valve assembly and that seems to have done the trick. Hopefully that helps you out.
Check the ignition control module.
sounds like you have a bad ox sensor or a computer problem
On the 1995 model it's suggested every 60,000 miles. The max I would say would be 100,000 miles.
With that many miles it would be comparable to a 97 or98 zx2. Book value or what you would get for a trade in would be about $900. Average retail value would be about $1995.
thermostat needs replaced
Most ford inertia switches are resettable and should not need to be replaced.
It is not as simple as just taking the miles off. If you would like an older vehicle to have 0 miles on it you would have to have many parts on the vehicle resurfaced and replaced.
I was having the same problem with my daughter's escort. I replaced the cam position sensor and the problem stopped. Advanced Auto Parts will check the computer to find out the problem for free. I would suspect that the belt tensioner is weak. If there are a lot of miles on the car I would replace it. I hope this helps you. Mark
Find another mechanic.
