If it's not leaking any visible coolant anywhere and you don't detect coolant getting into the enine oil (check for white smoke coming out of the tailpipe) it is not likely a bad head gasket and may just be a faulty reading on the temperature gauge. There is a service bulletin regarding the temperature guage, that it reads hot or near hot when the engine is not actually overheating. The water pumps are also under recall, so have that checked as well. I know mine just shows a high reading on the temp guage but it's not leaking coolant and everything else checks out fine.

You can follow the top radiator hose directly to the thermostat housing.

The thermostat is located in the front of the motor, underneath the plenum and intake manifold. (Both must be removed to access it. ) Just follow the upper radiator hose on the driver's side.
