soudns like it is not getting enough fuel, try replacing the fuel filter, if that does not work check the fuel pump
there is a possibility that it may be a vaccum leak aswell. check all you lines.
I just changed fuel filter, pump, sparks plugs and wires on mine and it runs great!
Need a little more information. there are a number of reasons why your cougar would run rough. Anywhere from the mass oxygen sensor to the idle control sensor, oxygen sensors and on and on.
adjust your idle screw at your throttle body and check your cold idle stage stitch at the end of your accelerator cable at your throttle body. it may also need adjusting
Idle Air Control Valve would be a good place to start.
could be: sticking throttle linkage, idle air control malfunction, or in emission system.
1. Engine Idle speed set too low? 2. One or more cylinders misfiring at low idle? (Spark plugs, plug wires, distributor cap or distributor rotor would be the common culprits.)
You can't - it's all controlled from the PCM.
vacuum leak? carburetor adjustment?
My 2000 V6 Sonata shakes while at idle also. I discovered I need an oxegen sensor and more importantly an "Idle Air Control Valve". 239.00 is the average and hard to find. .
basd fuel
maybe the clutch
If this is a '99 through '02 Cougar, this sounds like the so called "Moosing" problem, which is a problem with the Idle Air Control Valve (IACV), and is fixed by taking the IACV out, its connected to the upper intake manifold, and either cleaning it thoroughly, or replacing it.
