My 2004 SRX V8 would jerk and sort of "hang up" when accelerating from a stop. It is an AWD. The dealership had to rebuild my transfer case. No more problems since.

Rev the engine six or seven times before coming to a complete stop. Rev it all the way to the edge every time you stop.
Mine did that about a year ago it was low on transmission fluid so I would try going to your local repair shop and having them check it out. It may also be your shifter solenoid, which goes out on these transmission frequently.
