There are a couple of different reasons as to why there would be power window failure in a 1998 Pontiac Grand Prix. One reason could be a faulty fuse or it could also be a short in the window motor.
Bcm is going bad
I would suggest checking out the Haynes Repair Manual from your local library. It is a very helpful resource. I am using it for a 1998 Transport and Montana.
Don't know, would like to know.
check the ignition modulator under the distributor cap
Blown fuse, or defective headlight bulb.
lower intake gasket
My power window on the drives side of my 2000 Pontiac Montana would stop about half closed. It would title forward. I would have too grap the top off the glass and pull it toward the back of the window frame. This is a really easy fix: remove the door panel and, with the window all the way up - pull the front window track toward you and away from the side of the door. Bend it a little and test to see if this was enough to get the window to power up and down smoothly. If not bend it some more - as a technician would say "adjust it". As I could see when my window would go up it would come out of the track. Bending it, does the trick. The rubber piece off the rear window of the same driverside, had fallen off. Found that in the bottom of the dorr. Just re-glued it and now my windoe is working fine. I think what happens is in the winter these windows freeze shut. When we try to open them over and over until they become free, the window track troques and is then out of alignment.
remove the six screws (three on each side) pull the sunroof out and then try to close the window using the switch. If it closes you can replace the window and replace the screws.
I have a 1972 Corvette and the power window relay is in the shifter console, just forward of the power window switches. I would believe it's in the same place in the '73. Good Luck
personally i would check the oxygen sensor, plugs ,wires,
if the vin codes match then they should but i'd look at the wiring diagrams to be sure...
