engine not warm, low coolant, or stuck thermostat
if youre trying to turn the heater on and cold air comes out, then its most likely the heater core
check the switches and the motor
you should probably check your water in your radiatior and if it is full you might need to replace the cap. If neither of thise are the problem it may be your heater core which sucks or something electrical.
If the car is setting in the sun.Heat builds up in the ducts. With my car, it was Heater matrix clogged with radiator sealant. The workshop cleaned it and it's start working fine!
coolant level could be low not letting it circulate through the heater core, causing it to blow cold. Also, if the coolant level is low it will in turn overheat.
A restricted/plugged heater core can do that. Try flushing the heater core.
It could be your heater coil needs replaced. Expensive to have fixed though. Or it could be something as simple as low anti-freeze. Suggest you take it to a mechanic/garage.
: If you can turn on the heater but only cold air comes out you should check the blend door. It controls the door to switch from cold air to hot. It sits directly behind the heater/AC controls. It is white square plastic piece (approx 3in x 5in half inch thick and has a plastic screw rod that attaches to the heater/AC controls and they strip out. Hope this helps.
first of all i hate to say an obvious answer but does the heater motor even turn. Does it blow air at all. The first thing i would check is if the fan motor is blowing any air at all. If not u need to put in a new heater fan motor. first of all i hate to say an obvious answer but does the heater motor even turn. Does it blow air at all. If the unit is a heat pump, and the fan switch is set to ON, the unit compressor will cycle to maintain room temperature. Thus, it would blow hot or cold, depending on if the compressor was on, and the thermostat was calling for heat. Turn the fan switch to off, and let the thermostat bring the fan on. Not working part, no comment on that.
ihave a 1986 chevette that when i turn defrost on it blows out heat and when i put heater on it blows out only cold air? ihave a 1986 chevette that when i turn defrost on it blows out heat and when i put heater on it blows out only cold air?
Ck the heater fan motor resistor .
