After being stumped for some time about why only LEFT headlight not be working on 2001 Nissan Pathfinder (already checked bulb, fuses & relay), I took the car to my mechanic for repair. The problem turned out to be a "dirty" Daytime Light Control Module (DLCM) which is required in Canada. Oddly in the Pathfinder, the left/Driver-side headlight only gets to Ground through the DLCM and when that is defective, the left haedlight ceases to work. The right/passenger-side headlight does not go through the DLCM and wasn't affected by the problem (this has to do with different parallel vs serial circuit design). It seems the DLCMs in some cars require some resoldering, though in my case, a simple "cleaning" and reseating solved the problem, so my excellent Japanese mechanic (Kunio in Ottawa) saved me $280 by not having to replace the DLCM. Hopefully this explanation will be of help to others who may experience a similar problem ... Joe.
If you haven't already, replace the headlight. Chris
There could be a switch that has gone bad in the headlight. The entire assembly will more then likely need to be replaced.
One headlight not working
Try replacing the headlight switch. Do the front parklights work and not the rear ones? If so check the harness to the rear of the vehicle for breakage.
check the fuse for the right headlight. it may be blown. YES, there is a fuse for each headlight.
check the freron
If your 1997 Nissan Pathfinder front and back windshield wipers do not operate, it could possibly be the motor. After checking the fuse box and they still are not working, it is possible the motor will need to be replaced.
The speedometer and odometer may stop working in a Nissan Pathfinder due to an electrical short. It may also need a new spark plug.

My headlight is not working on the passengers side. Do I need to change out the headlight assembly or can I simply change out the bulb? My headlight is not working on the passengers side. Do I need to change out the headlight assembly or can I simply change out the bulb?
