Why would the left fun be running on a 2000 Honda Accord LX even though the car is turned off and would it cause the battery to be dead after running overnight even though the battery is new?

Check the battery voltage, bike not running. Start the bike (crank the rpm's up a little), voltage should be a couple of volts more than battery voltage. Check both voltage (running and not running) at battery terminals. Charge voltage isn't all though, if it doesn't stop charging when it should it will boil the battery dry. If you are having this symptom, it's for sure the regulator

The alternator may not be charging it enough. With the engine running at an idle check the voltage at the battery with a DC digital voltmeter. It should read from 13.5 to 15.5 Volts. Anymore, or any less, and the alternator is suspect. You might also have a defective battery.
