Why would the power steering 'grunt'?
If that's the case, then I'd take it back to the dealer and leave it with them a few days when cold weather is expected. Since your paying in the neighborhood of .55 cents a mile for the first 36,000 miles to own it, let them earn it.
Is the car new or how many km's/miles has it done? Is the grunt a sort of a buzzing sound? Could be damage in the pump or the pump is drawing in air from somewhere.
If it was ordered with power steering it would have it. Read More

The power steering fluid is leaking because somewhere in the power steering system there is a leak. It is possible one of the seals on the steering rack has worn out. First step would be to check if you have enough power steering fluid in the system. If it is low then fill it up to the fill line and it would probably be a good idea to check for leaks in the system. If you check the fluid and it is good, then there would be only one other option, and that would be the power steering pump. First step would be to check if… Read More
Each is designed for its own place in the vehicle. I would definitely avoid putting any power steering fluid in the crankcase. I would also avoid putting motor oil in the power steering. Power steering fluid is generally thinner than motor oil and would not be an advisable alternative to put in the crankcase. Now motor oil is thicker and can potentially damage components in the power steering with prolonged use. The detergents in motor… Read More
What would make a 1998 ply breeze grunt and moan after having power steering hose replaced and no air in the line never made noise before hose was replaced?
You need to bleed the trapped air out of the system. Fill the reservoir, start and idle the engine. Turn the steering wheel back and forth stop to stop. Just touch the stop, do not hold it there or you may damage the power steering pump. Do this 10 to 15 times. Power steering fluid that is a tan color or has a beer head contains air. Turn the engine off and let it sit… Read More

There is no connection from the power steering system and the engine systems.
