A mechanic friend of mine told us that's just the way our windstar is. That for some reason the system cannot completely bleed itself of air and therefore will have that groaning sound but it will run perfectly fine. Hope this helps.

A good and accurate front-end alignment.All the parts of the steering and suspension "point straight down the road" will establish the steering wheel to do the same.Anything out of alignment will pull/push the wheel(s) in that direction.

The power steering reservoir in 1999-2003 Windstar is located in the back-left (passenger-side) corner of the engine compartment. Likely to be a white canister about 2 1/2" across with a black, screw-type cap.
