Why would there be a thumping sound coming from the passenger side rear tire after a spin out but only reaching a speed of 30MPH or higher?

Chances are that you have 'flat spotted' a tyre. That is, the tyre is no longer round. This happens when a tyre skids. Either but locking the brakes or asking the wheel to spin about an axis that it cannot spin (i.e. a spin-out). You can check for a flat spot by lifting the car on a jack and turning the wheel by hand. You can also try putting on the spare to see if it goes away. Just make sure you are certain about which tyre is flat-spotted. Hope this helps. P.S. Don't get under the car if it is supported by the jack alone. Thank you for your input...I was told by a mechanic however that I somehow bent my spindle and that is the cause of the thumping sound.. now does anyone know around how much a spindle for a 2003 Hyundai Tiburon might cost me if I did it myself??
