I had a similar problem on my 2002 Impala which turned out to be the air filter housing cover was not put back on correctly after changing the filter. You may also want to look at all the connections & fittings in the air hoses to make sure they are seated and tight.

my $.02I have seen PVC valves incorrectly installed on these as well. Dealer parts required on this one at that time. Another AnswerIs the air filter a K&N? They will make a whistling sound while accelerating also.Wiki User
