if it is a new style s10 they had a common problem of the wiper control module going bad and intermittenly quiting. the module is located underneath the wiper motor cover.
check the fuse, otherwise the linkeage or the motor broke down

Blown fuse would be my first guess.
It depends on where they broke and if they were subjected to undue stress from ice etc.

Most likely minor damage to Flux Capacitor.
