1999 mercury sable horn replacement
AnswerBecause you can hit the steering wheel and it seems to make a difference, I would suspect that the wiper switch is on a wand near the wheel and it is probably going out. This type of problem can be hard to find and dangerous in a rainstorm.(not to mention frustrating) I would replace the switch. See "Related Questions" below for more
yes, but you'd have to replace the motherboard as well since it's integrated into it.

2 things the wipers and washers have in common:The fuseThe control switch - on the multi-function switch / turn-signal stalkHopefully it'll be the fuse, but not uncommon for the multi-function switch to go bad too.See "Related Questions" below for more specifics about both
1: Remove the car's windshield wipers. One is longer than the other, so mark which arm goes on which side of the screen if you've not done this before. A sticky note does the trick. 2: Open the hood. 3: Remove the black plastic trim that sits across the bottom of the windshield. (You cant get the trim off without removing the wipers) 4: The pollen filter is located under left hand corner of the windshield, assuming you have the hood up and are viewing the engine bay from the front of the car. It's tucked away under the shelf-like structure protruding from the base of the windscreen. It's not obviously visible because it's obscured by a black plastic cover which keeps water off of the filter. Pull the plastic cover off and remove the filter. 5: Replace the filter and cover. It's fiddly. Patience and lots of wiggling of the plastic cover is needed. It's robust and flexible, so don't be too gentle with it. 6: Replace the windscreen trim and your windshield wipers - job done. Good luck!
take pair of plyers and grap the clamp and pull toward the center of the hose you will need to do this twice then put the new one on withthe same clamps the hose should come out of the bottmom of the windshield reservor

The 1993 Mercury Sable takes 20" replacement windshield wiper blades on both sides front (and a 14" rear wiper blade if applicable). See sources and related links below for more information. Since there are over 22 different wiper arm attachments, do not buy wipers just by length only - be sure to lookup exact wiper blade part numbers by vehicle make, model and year for the brand wiper you decide to purchase. This ensures correct length AND correct attachment.
* in my experience i have found that the wiper motor cover is the problem, you may check your local mercury dealer there was a recall for this. you may also check the wiring I have seen wiring that has been eaten through by mice or other varments. * I took it to the Ford dealer for a dionostic test...$75!!! Turns out the windshield wiper motor had a short in it...Cost me $55 to replace it myself. But,on another note, we did find mice in the engine compartment earlier in the spring! So maybe they caused it!
