I had the same problem with a 95 Dodge neon. It was the computer. You could tap it with a wrench and it would run for awhile longer, but I had to end up replacing the computer itself. dose it still idle, but stall when you hit the gas pedal when this problem is happening???
because its a Dodge Neon

Could be plugs and wires (spark plugs) I had a mis-fire (only 3 cylinders running) and I replaced my spark plugs and wires, and it worked. I have a 2003 Dodge Neon SE. Cheers!
the gap is .035 for a 2003 neon
you might have a leak somewere or need new spark plugggs
you probobly just need to change your spark plugs and wires.
Go to the first Spark Beat magazine and click on "New location". You'll go to Twinkle Lounge. Then click on the star "Neon lanes" and you'll go to Neon lanes. Good luck!
If you are talking about oil on the outside of the spark plug then you have a leaking valve cover gasket. Oil on the spark plug electrode is a sign of defective rings and an engine in need of an overhaul.
Check the threads for the spark plug, Im betting it was either crossthreaded or not tightened enough and worked itself out.
Screwed in the head.
I had a 95 neon. I changed them every 12,000 miles
