Clogged interior or exterior of the radiator, defective fan or fan relay, bad fan clutch if so equipped, thermostat stuck closed, low coolant level, defective or incorrect size radiator cap, or a bad water pump.
I'm going to guess your answer is right there in your question, the car is overheating. Find the cause of the overheating and it might just fix your problem.
There are a couple of reasons why a car would shut off after starting. The spark plug or plug wires may need changed. Also, the gas may have water in it.
Question needs more detail; does it shut off from overheating, or do you shut it down..How long do you wait to try starting again.
Check the ignition control module and the coil
I have the same exact problem.
Ignition module then computer.
scientests have been finding out that the earth is warming up by methane
while i was driving my car shuts off at nite while the lights are on, and i got it started back up and shuts off and comes back on ******************************************************** If you have a bad alternator it can cause starting problems. More likely because you were driving and not charging the battery, while draining it. The alternator re-charges while you drive. When you turned it off & came back the next day there was not enough juice.
from global warming
Try the idiling positioner or run it for about five minutes or the converter is stopping up.
I HAVE 2 89 IROCS BOTH WITH 350s,I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM.TURNS OUT THE MOTOR GETS VERY HOT AND HEATS UP THE STARTER,WICH THEN SHUTS OFF THE ENGINE.THE FIX?BUY A HIGH PERFOMANCE STARTER FOR ABOUT 200$ OR BUY A 40$ BLANKIT AND WRAP THE STARTER TO PROTECT IT FROM HEAT.I DID ONE ON EACH ONE FIXED!
It comes on long enough for the shocks to fill up and then shuts off. Is your car raised when it shuts off? If the shocks are in good shape without leaks, that's usually the time the compressor takes to pump up the shocks.
it sounds like the throttle positioning sensor is messed up. try replacing it
A 1999 Chevy Express 3500 van that shuts off when it warms up can have a bad fuel pump. It can also be caused by the distributor cap getting worn out.
i would have the tps sensor or the mass air flow sensor those are usaully the symptoms for this
There is a low oil pressure switch that shuts off the fuel supply if the oil pressure drops . If the switch malfunctions ,it will shut off the engine when it is warming up and the oil oressure drops. The switch is near the oil filter
if no warning and it just shuts down but dash lights and radio light up check ignition switch
the ignition switch could be bad
idle not set right, need tune-up, or dirty injectors
If it's warming up, then it's probably trying to print something. Turning it off will disrupt the process and you'll have to start over from the beginning.
the throttle position sensor is bad
