Anything is possible with enough time and money, but no - this motor will not easily fit into a 1983. I would consider a 5.0 motor before I attempted a swap like that.
Very true and false. the Foxbody mustang and the SN-95 body style share a lot in common when it comes to chassis and susspension. Meaning the cross member from a 4.6 SN-95 mustang (94-04) are direct swaps which would allow you to bolt in a 4.6 motor. Now the trans on the other hand needs an aftermarket trans cross member (not expensive at all) but remember a T-5 will not bolt up to a 4.6, the bolt pattern is different.
The issue lies in having all of the wiring harnesses to do the job correctly or by purchasing a control pack from Ford to operate the engine correctly. I have done several swaps like this in 2 weeks or less (after work and weekends). it is a tedious job and can be daunting for the first timer. So proceed with caution. if you want some tips or tricks just PM and i will respond
