Yes all flowers need water of some sort, at least most flowers that are considered domestic or tropical, even the desert flowers also known as Cactus' root deep and store water with-in the cones of the plant in order to sustain itself until the next round of rain or saturation of some sort comes along. Rather they are Perrenials or Annuals all flowers need the nutrients of water and soil just as humans are made of of mostly water flowers are a close second to humans in the water content area. The question is- Which types of flowers need how much watering? Ask (or Google) that question and I think you will get a more defined answer. I work for one of the largest florists in the Midwest and my Job is to keep our flowers in our planters around our city alive. I have learned alot about how much and when certain types need watered and how long greens and blooming flowers can live with out water. Its fun to experiment - try it sometime at home and see , You would be amazed at how close a plant or flower can come to dying and pop back with the right touch!!!... Till then, J- Water boy! if you have detailed questions you would like to ask please email me at thentertainment@aol.com I can give more detailed info on certain types if you would like!...
Yes, many plants like what is called "wet feet" meaning they love a lot of water. Most plants, though, should have some king of soil at some point to get nutrients. Bulbs can be dug up and saved for forcing in the winter. Get a bulb vase, put the bulb in the top, keep water level just about touching the bulb (it should barely touch the protruded end of the bulb). The roots will grow and the bulb will flower on a cool window sill in the winter. Best bulbs are hyacinths, paperwhites, amaryllis, and daffodils to name just a few.
