NO additives are recommended by any good mechanics. Only the full repair is best especially whem dealing with coolant leaks. Usually intake leaks are from years of corrosion the coolant will turn to acid in most oif todays cars if not treated you will have much internal damage. the external leaks will only show up when damage is done. Dont write off the vehicle it ,will be much cheaper to repair than pay the extra cost for insurance ,interest loss of value for new cars.....
You will have to remove the intake manifold and install a new intake gasket. You have no choice.
I wouldn't recommend it. Replace the gasket.
You need to replace the manifold and use Felpro Gaskets.
vortech Chevrolet's had a lot of problemswith the intake leaking internally and externally. And no stop leak of any kind wont help. You cannot fix mechanical problems with any thing that comes in a bottle. The 4.3 and 5.7 are well known for intake manifold leaks. mite not be your problem but very possible.vortech Chevrolet's had a lot of problemswith the intake leaking internally and externally. If you are talking about A/C refrigerant / Freon leak, Then the intake has NOTHING to do with the A/C / Air conditioning system. Now if you are leaking antifreeze/ engine coolant and YOU KNOW it is leaking from the corners of the intake, Then YES you MUST replace the intake gaskets. Now you didn't say what you were working on. But if it is a V-6 or V-8 VORTEC engine then it is a VERY COMMON Problem on those engines for the intake to leak antifreeze.
no, but you can replace the gasket entirely add the sealant ensuring a leak free fit.
My 01 deville had a cracked intake boot, between the throttle body and intake manifold, it would only leak when eng was hot.
replace the intake gasket set
No. they're dissolved in each other and are quite hard to seperate.
if its a 5.9L or a 5.2L they have intake manifold problems...theres a two part intake on them and a leak forms between the two parts and begins to leak oil into the cylinders 7 an 8 first check the plugs and if there oilly back there that could be your problem..
no, You will have to replace the intake gasket, CAUTION DO NOT USE STOP LEAK.
Try Bars Stop Leak; its` worked wonders for some, none for others. Worth a shot though.
