I believe that begining in about 1993, the transmission came electronically controlled. At a minimum, the valve body would have to be changed. It is better to find a unit form a 1990 to 1992. 1989 and earliers had a different shift linkage. The bellhousings are different between 2.9L and 3.0L engines. The pump is part of the bellhousing, therefore some disassembly of transmission is required. DO NOT attempt this if you are not familar with transmissions!
Your transmission might automatically shift out of overdrive while driving on the interstate because of low transmission fluid. This issue might also occur because of a bad transmission sensor or overdrive sensor.
A 1994 Jeep Laredo might stay in overdrive if the transmission is bad. It can also be caused by low transmission fluid levels.
If the interior lights and overdrive are also not working then is a fuse. Look in the owners manual to see which fuse.
2002 - 2004 Altima and Maxima automatic transmissions interchange, if they are model RE4FO4B. The pans and filters are different but also interchange.
If your 94 Silverado with a 96 Silverado transmission slips out of overdrive when you are on the highway, the gears may have seized up. You should also check the transmission fluid level.
yes it also bolts to 273/318/340
Overdrive is the normal position - if you are in hilly areas and find the transmission keeps shifting back and forth between overdrive and drive , you can use the overdrive cancel switch to shut off the overdrive feature and if you are towing something you also want to shut off the overdrive
Overdrive is controlled by the shift solenoid, and vacuum modulator. the kick down you refer to is not overdrive but passing gear and should also be controlled by vacuum.
Overdrive is for highway driving, which is great for gas mileage. Also, not to use overdrive when going up or down hills because it makes your transmission work harder. That's what I was told anyways.
The automatic transmission in a 1995 Jeep Cherokee is an AW4. The automatic in a Grand Cherokee is a 42RE, also called an A500.
yes it shod fit but you may have to change the Greer reecho in the rear end to put it in overdrive
overdrive allows the engine to run at lower RPM's , which increases the fuel economy and also the transmission runs cooler
