Dipstick! Honda does things different from every other brand of car...as anyone who's ever noticed that Honda puts its four-cylinder engines on the other side of the car from every other brand. And so it is with checking the transmission fluid, and in this case Honda got it right. On a Honda, transmission fluid is checked with the engine off--as opposed to every other car, where you check it when the engine's running.
