obviously the motor for the wipers is still working because when you push down on the wipers they work sometimes.Probably whats wrong is the accuator arm is loose. This is located under the plastic panel on the drivers side just after the ending of your windshield.(YOUR HOODS GOTTA BE UP TO GET TO IT).Pop it off (may have some screws may not, that hold it down).Turn on your wipers it should be easy to see whats loose/wrong.The "stud"That attaches the accuator has flat spots on two sides tha lock it on in place when the nuts tightened. So if it loosens up the wipers work intermittenly.Good luck
why don't the windshild wipers work on 1995 ford countours. their is no power to fuse box or wiper motor.
if you dont know how to replace them go to autozone they're just about the only placve that'll have wipers that'll fit and they'll put em on for you
Some people choose to do this to prevent the wipers from freezing to the car, and to make it easier to clean the windshield.I disagree 100% with these people. All this does it allow ice to collect all over the wipers, makeing them difficult to clean. The first thing I do when cleaning my car is to turn it on, full heat, with defroster on. I then clean the top/rest of my car. By the time I get to the windshield, the wiper area would be melted. I can then lift the wipers and clean the windshield, and my wiper blades do not have a spec of ice on them, so they wont streak all over the windshield. Try using your wipers after leaving them up, and the blades dont even touch the glass, ice does. Clean them off? You risk chipping the (rubber) blade, since its frozen and covered in ice.
some times wind shield wipers dont work because the car is frozen and they need to thaw out from not moving for a while. if it gets to be a big problem go and buy some sleeves for them.
The drivers side wiper arm should move up if you pull up on them allowing you room to change out the wipers. Im sure I dont need to tell you how to change the wipers after that right? As for the right wiper its a little tougher. what i did was turn the wipers on and turn the car off when they were half way up. that should give u enough room to swap it out as well though the arm doesnt come up as high as the drivers side does. Hope that help you out. Bryan
Loose connection, intermittent short.
sounds more like the wiper switch needs replacing
Really, it depends what you mean by "stop working". There are two types of broken. The first is they move from side to side still but the brush part wont clean. That means that the windshield wiper is old and worn out and that you need to go to your local wal-mart or automobile store or something like that and get new windshield wipers. The second type of broken is where the wipers dont even move. Check the bottom of the wipers. See if anything is wedged in there that would block the movement. If that is not the case then go to and local body shop or an automobile place that could replace the mechanism.
Because they are BROKEN
Check the fuse for the wipers. Otherwise the wiper motor is probably done for.
as you dont give any details, I'll assume theyre not available from dealer............ this means your only hope is a Parts Surplus Dealer or wrecking Yard for a whole wiper motor
On Jeep YJs the wipers dont go all the way down.
