These are in the order of people I would tell:
# The Police # NSPCC # Childline # Someone older who you can trust; maybe a favourite teacher or group leader
Yes they were alcoholics. Johnnycakes stated that his parents were abusive, neglecting drunks.
his parents are abusive and alcoholics and they dont care if hes home or not
About 10%, or perhaps as many as 40%, of abusive parents were themselves physically abused as children, but most abused children do not grow up to be abusive parents.
My opinion on the matter is that parents shouldn't be abusing their children anyway, but i think that parents that are drunks or druggies abuse their children more than a parent who is stressed or depressed.
I believe that many grew up with abusive parents and think that it's "normal." They have low self esteem and feel powerful when abusing a more submissive person.
ignorance. some parents were raised by violent adults and will be violent parents if they had no other examples or information on how to parent. mental illness or substance use might also cause abusive behavior where there was none before.
They were alcoholics.
So all parents are abusive to their kids apart from teen parents? No that is not true. Some parents have serious issues and that include teen parents as well but there's help to get. The majority of parents are not abusive.
Yes, if both your parents are alcoholics, you are a lot more likely to develop alcoholism. You can change your lifestyle to avoid alcohol, join a support group such as Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or consult with a therapist.
Having parents who were alcoholics.
Eminem has inspired many people including me. I for one have been inspired by Not Afraid and Mockingbird. Many cases have been reported of abusive parents or guardians realising that if Eminem a raper isn't abusing his kids and loves them why not them. Eminem is a legend.
This is concerning. If both parents are abusive, this should be reported to DHR/DCS/Child Welfare and law enforcment.
