A bad you joint or a unbalanced driveshaft can cause the transmission rear main seal to leak. You will need to replace the transmission seal.
No, there is no connection between losing transmission fluid and the speed odometer not working. My mother's car lost all of it's transmission fluid but the odometer still worked.

The reason your 1999 transmission will not go is the fluid is too low. Apparently enough fluid leaked out of your transmission so it will not operate.
Transmission fluid leaked out of car very fast. After hitting large rock. Could it be the transmission pan is broke? That is a possibility
you have a blown headgasket, or if it is has an automatic transmission, it is also possible that you may have transmission fluid in your radiator. this is caused by transmission fluid in part of your radiator leaked into your coolant
Synthetic lubricants are recommended for all vehicles. I began using AMSOIL synthetic oil in my 1997 Chevy Venture at 50,000 miles, right after the manifold gasket went bad and leaked coolant into the engine. I have changed the AMSOIL once a year and now have 115,000 miles and it runs better than ever. I also have the AMSOIL synthetic ATF in the transmission and it also runs better than ever.
The transmission is a sealed unit. It should not need refilling. If the fluid has leaked out you need seal or gasket replacement. I suggest a good transmission repair facility who has worked on Cateras or the dealer.
I suspect that the transmission cooler that is built into your radiator has leaked fluid internally into the coolant part of the rad and into the rest of the cooling system.
On my 1999 XJ8 there is a hex screw just above the transmission pan on transmission case, on the passenger side toward the back end of the pan but an inch or two up. When I took it out there was pressure in the system and it sprayed/leaked transmission fluid. James
it leaked but now they fixed it all up so people could visit it again
Gunpowder was invented in china around 800ad and leaked out at 1200 ad to europe
A cause is the reason why something happened. A consequence is the result of an action. For example: The cause of the stain on his shirt was that his pen leaked ink all over it. The consequence of forgetting to put the cap on his pen was that it leaked all over his shirt.
