Pretty much a bolt in, you will need motor mounts for the 400 Pontiac, the transmission will bolt up since Buick, olds, Pontiac have the same bellhousing. I have found headers from a 1968-1972 GTO will fit with some slight mods. I helped a friend install a 400 Pontiac in a 1981 Grand Prix that had a 231 V6 some years ago, was pretty straight forward. Only real problem we encountered was the car overheated with the thin single row V6 Radiator, that was easily solved with a 3 core radiator.
It's not hard. Just quite annoying getting everything in the right place. I had a hard time doing it around the air conditioner.
Original belt? If so, the rubber's gone hard and is slipping.
no
Where is thermostat on 97 Oldsmobile cutlass supreme 3.1 Liter. How hard is it remove.
Look by the gas tank. It may be inline by the tank or in the tank itself. Good luck. Not to hard to change.
I have changed out the heater/AC Fan motor on a 1994 Pontiac Tran Sport if the 1991 is the same the motor is located on the firewall behind the engine. It's not hard to change out if you have a long extension for your socket wrench, there are four or five small bolts holding it to the firewall, and just two wires going to it, if yours doesn't have a disconnect you may have to cut the wires and then wire nut them to the new motor. Hope this helps.
The blower rheostat on a 93 Pontiac Grand Am is located inside the engine bay, just to the right of the blower fan housing. It is almost directly behind the trans dipstick. It isn't that hard to replace.

You wont lose horsepower.. Your motor will twist more in the chassis making the car twist under hard acceleration which will make your car not transfer weight as well as it should..
