You have two choices here. You must take the time out to talk to your mother. She is the one looking after your son, so it's up to her (while she has him) to teach him right from wrong, and constantly tell him how much you love him and that he should be a good boy for you. When a person has a child then it's a big responsibility and sometimes a mother has to give up a career she may want for the sake of her child. If your job is taking up too much of your time and you are going for the big money in a corporation then it's time to "down size!" Your son should always come first. If you are just struggling to make ends meet, then try to get a job a little closer to home. It's not the time you have with a child, but the quality of time you have with them. If this is impossible, then you are going to have to talk to your mother and speak from the heart. Between the two of you, you should be able to come to some compromise regarding your son. All weekends should be spent with your son DOING THINGS away from your mother's home. Just you and your son. You could go for walks, to parks, amusement parks, etc., and have some fun together. This way your son gets to know you better and you get to know more about his little character. I am afraid to say that it is you that is going to have to put a little more time into your son. Weekends are for him, and any holidays you have. Good luck Marcy

A guy who needs to mature and realize that he needs to find a girlfriend, not a mother. If he wants a mother figure, he should check the mother board at church, the elderly women in the hospitals and nursing homes or his aunts or friend's mothers. He needs to see a therapist about this because this could hinder his relationships in the future.
