Initially ice it for the first day or two. Wrapping it in an Ace banadage can also help. After the first day or two apply heat and gradually retirn to finction and stretch. Anti-inflammatories such as Motrin/Advil/Aleve or generics) can help.
put some ice on it and try to stay off it for a while. oh and sometimes when you pull a muscle its because you are dehydrated so if it was pretty recent drink a lot of water. if its your back use icy hot. it works really well.
