I've replaced mine twice now. The switch pads built into the steering wheel on my 97SC2 each have two small 'bubble' contacts (one at the top and one at the bottom of the switch). Pressing either switch will make the horn relay cycle and the horn blow. 97s are one of the years that have the relay integrated on the horn bracket (both located under the drivers side headlamp). If your model has a separate relay, it will be in the under-hood fuse block alongside the fuses. There is also a small chance that the 'clock spring' is bad. The clock spring is a set of wires that sit under the air bag on the steering wheel and carry the light switch, horn, etc wires (It's how the horn and switches can work while you are turning the steering wheel). Don 't forget to check wiring for chaffed wire or loose ground connection. Factory Switch runs $32, Horn (with relay) $50, clock spring $120 Good luck
i know where the fuse box is under the dash, but where is the horn fuse in my 1994 ford lx escort! (1.9 litter). I have no horn sound! I need to know where is the fuse?????????
AnswerFirst thing is go find the fuse. Use a test light to check the fuse while it is still in the vehicle. If you have power on both sides of the fuse then you know that the fuse is good. Next, check for power at the horn, probably located on the left front wheel well, right front wheel well, or in the grill. Pull the wire to the horn and stick your test light into the connector. Have somebody push the horn while you see if you have power going to the horn. If you have power to the horn, you probably need a horn. If no power to the horn, you either have a broken wire or a bad horn switch (located behind the steering wheel). F
see if theres any current going through the fuse or just replace the whole horn
When parts of a car stop working it is important to know the location of its fuse. The horn fuse on a 1999 Malibu is located in the fuse box under the hood.
Unhook your horn and hot wire it from the battery to see if it work. If only one wire is going to your horn that should be your hot wire so gound the negitive wire from the battery to your body.
If you can't locate it in the fuse box on your kick panel, check under the hood. I do know that your horn relay is there and I think the fuse is too, but I'm not positive about the fuse.
When parts of a car do not work, it is important to know where its fuse is located. The horn fuse in a 1999 Chevy Blazer is located in the fuse box under the driver side dash.
It is important to know what is causing problems in a car. When the horn relay clicks, but the horn does not sound, it is not a fuse but more likely to be the cars clock spring.
ofcourse there is a fuse for the horn.. look in the fuse box! (I know its not in the fuse box in the kick panel or by the engine ive looked its elsewhere in the car)
The horn fuse can be found in the fuse box. The fuse box is located in the engine compartment. The horn fuse will be the number 14 fuse. The number 14 fuse will be in the second column, fourth from the top.
hi: i take a tester and while car is off . i ground tester and check one fuse at at a time to see which one does not light up( test light should come on if fuse is good.) look for one that is blown,it be melted inside . replace and blow horn. ron
Depends on what is wrong with it. Start by checking the fuse. If it is good then apply 12 volts directly to the horn. If it blows you know it is good so there is a problem with the switch or wiring. If it does not blow it is bad and must be replaced.
