When jumping a vehicle with a bad or totally dead battery, it is best to connect the two vehicles and let them sit for about 10 or 15 minutes with the "good" vehicle running before attempting to start the "bad" vehicle. This allows the dead battery a chance to build a charge so that the jump doesn't try to pull so much current from the good battery (which is already providing current to keep its own car running). Be patient and WAIT AT LEAST 15 MINUTES! Don't try starting the car every couple of minutes or you will drain the battery again and the 15 minutes starts all over. You also might want to replace to battery terminals on the battery cables. Most likely the stock terminals are made of lead and are subject to corrosion. You can get a great set of brass terminals from an auto parts store for about $5. They are really easy to replace -- snip the old ones off with about a half inch of cable (which has corroded with the terminal), strip an inch of insulation to expose the new cable, and bolt the new terminals on nice and tight.
1992 buick road master after you put a new battery it crank but wont start what is the problem
check the battery, its probably dead
Does it crank over fine?
Could be a bad battery or starter.
If the engine does not even crank, it is battery or starter related. Check all connections and the charge of the battery itself. If it does crank, it can be 25 additional reasons why engine does not start.
if battery is ok chech netural saftyswitch
it would all depend on what you mean by not start. if you only hearing a click it would most likely be your battery. if is a slow crank it's also a poorly charged battery, but if is a no crank then it may be something else.
It depends on if it won't "crank" or wont't "start" if it worn't crank make sure your battery terminals are clean and tight if it still won't crank check the wiring if it looks ok suspect the starter.if it won't start it could be a fuel pump fouled spark plugs faulty ignition module faulty crank sensor or out of time. hope this helps.
Does the engine crank but not start? Or does it not even crank? Based on the information you gave, you could have a bad starter or weak battery. Dead battery. Recharge it or get a new one.
If the engine will not even crank, then suspect a defective battery or starter. Start by removing both battery cables and cleaning the cable connections and battery posts. Reconnect them and see if it starts. If not put a battery charger on the battery and fully charge it. If it will not accept a charge is is defective. It the vehicle starts then you may have a defective alternator. If the battery is good and it still will not start, suspect a bad starter. You will have to remove it and have it tested.
Does it crank over? Check the battery connections, check for any other loose connectors,
Try a new battery, or get a jump start. Sometimes there is not enough power in the battery to start the engine.
