My 1995 town car started having trouble shifting into 2nd when it hit about 110K miles a few months back. If I kept going it would jump straight to 3rd. Took it to a transmission shop that was very highly recommended, owner said it was due to a cost savings method they had used in the transmission for 2nd gear...IIRC it was 'diode' shifting rather than sprag cog shifting. He rebuilt the trans (cost me LOTS of $$$, more than the car is worth but I like the car) and it's now better than ever. When they rebuilt the trans they changed it to sprag cog shifting for 2nd, also made other changes so it shifts more firmly and feels like it is transmitting more power than even when new. Owner also said he had a Dodge truck with the same trans, and it failed the same way between 110 and 115k miles.
Good luck, Paul
Yep, then shift from second to third gear.
your clutch packs are cooked
The number of people working the third shift varies depending on the industry and company. In general, the third shift typically has fewer employees than the first and second shifts due to the overnight hours.
Usually, that means 7 AM until 3 PM. 7am-3pm is first shift 3pm-11pm is second shift 11pm-7am is third shift
Because that's all it can shift. It starts in first. The first shift puts the car in second, and the second shift puts it in third.
If would not be bad for a car engine to shift from third to second gear if you are traveling at 30mph.
The Third Shift was created in 2004.
Shift differentials are incentives added to hourly pay for working second and third shifts. This is a good way to make some extra money.
The LS has a five speed transmission. Therefore it shifts from first to second, second to third, third to fourth and fourth to fifth. Four shifts.
Damaged/broken shift forks
No.
Towards you and up for reverse, towards you and down for first, away from you and up for second, and away from you and down for third.
