If you have Transmission Fluid in your coolant, you need a new radiator. The transmission cooler is a separate cooler located inside the radiator. Apparently yours has sprung a leak. It cannot be serviced separately. First replace the radiator. If its still overheating, then check the T stat.

Follow the upper radiator it will lead you to the thermostat housing.
I don't think you can change it. I have a 1999 catera and my transmission fluid has to be changed at the dealer.
The 1999 Cadillac thermostat can be found on the front of the engine. The thermostat will be inside of the thermostat housing. You can follow the top radiator hose directly to the thermostat housing.
There is a dipstick under the hood of a Cadillac Catera that you can pull to check your transmission fluid. You should do this when the engine is hot.
Where is the transmission plug on a 1998 cadillac
The Catera transmission does not have a dip stick or gauge to check the oil. The transmission is a sealed unit, there is no need to add oil.
The thermostat is located in the front of the motor, underneath the plenum and intake manifold. (Both must be removed to access it. ) Just follow the upper radiator hose on the driver's side. It connects to it. http://www.cadillacforums.com/forums/cadillac-catera-cimarron-forum/ is a great site for repairing your Catera
were do you put the transmission fluid i cant find it
There is no dipstick to check the transmission fluid on a 1998 Cadillac Catera. It can be checked by opening the fill plug on the side of the transmission. If you are at that point you might as well change the fluid if you have over 70000 miles.
where can i add transmission fluid on a cadillac catera 1998 you don't, they are maint. free so no dip stick. if there is a problem with it, dealer or trans shop.
its on the transmission it self no dip stick take it to a place where they change transmission fluid shop
If the engine is running hot, then changing the thermostat to a lower degree is not the answer. Use the exact same temperature thermostat that came from the factory. Now find the real cause of the overheating. Possibly the thermostat was partially stuck closed, or the radiator is clogged, water pump, blown head gasket, fan not working, etc. Do a complete service of the cooling system and find the problem.
