Sounds like it could be low voltage Battery charged? Alternator working?
It needs checked out but both the hazard and brake lights go through the turn signal switch.
the turn signal switch is probably bad

blubs blown? Check the turn signal switch.
try to turn up the idol screw if you have one and push the choke in as soon as it starts but keep gas on the hand accelerator
should only turn off with opening of driver door, this is for those who forget to turn lights off,to save the battery,if driver door is open then the car knows no one is driving.
look on the back unplug it then drop it on the ground then step on it after that plug it then it will turn on after it starts running again
Push in and turn.
not sure
I have the same problem when I first turn on the ignition there are no dash lights and it will start and die like yours. If I turn the switch on and off or just turn it on and wait, eventually I get dash lights and starts fine. There must be a relay or connection point causing this problem - anyone know where these are? Chuck Walp@juno.com
There is a light sensor located at the top middle of the dashboard, near the windshield. This will turn your lights on automatically if the lights are not manually turned on. However, if you drive under some street lights or a bright area, it can read this as daylight and turn the lights off. To avoid this, always make sure that your lights are manually turned on at night. This sensor also effects the interior lights. They should not automatically come on during the day if it is working properly.
