Blown head gasket. But with a blown head gasket wouldn't you notice a kind of milkyness to the oil when you checked the oil because of the mixing?
Blown head gasket.
Could be that your head gasket is beginning to go. Does it smell strongest when you first start the car, then go away? Look for excess steam coming out the tailpipe when you first start it.
I had this problem and it was my battery, but could also be in need of antifreeze.
fuel line bad
If you are smelling the sweet but unpleasant aroma of antifreeze, your vehicle is leaking it somewhere. A lot of the time the culprit is the water pump. They have a weep hole and when the bearing starts to fail it will begging leaking from this hole. I would start by getting myself a flashlight and start scanning your engine's water hoses for a leak. Check the mail hoses going to/from the radiator as well as the heater hoses leading to the firewall. Do you smell the antifreeze odor INSIDE the car? If so, it could be your heater core that's failing.
If you drive through a water puddle, water can get on the belts-antifreeze leaking, oil leaking, maybe a bad alternator /idler bearing, and sometimes a glazed/worn out belt.
There are 2 freeze plugs in the back of the engine block were the flywheel is, They may be leaking. But I would look at the back top corners of the intake manifold real close and run your fingers around the corners and see if you get antifreeze on them. The intake Gaskets are none to leak on Chevy V8 and V6 engines, It is a common problem.
Antifreeze is composed of mainly ethylene glycol or propylene glycol, both of which are combustible. So yes, antifreeze IS combustible. However, neither of these compounds is very easily ignited. But although it is HIGHLY unlikely that antifreeze could start a fire, antifreeze could be dangerous if it actually gets hot enough to burn (such as in an ongoing structure fire).
Your water pump possible went out so you might want to check the water pump and also check the timing belt
It may have a leaking head gasket. Has the coolant level dropped and needed more antifreeze . If so check it with a pressure tester
I do not have a answer for it, do you an answer for this problem?
The problem with the Nissan Elgrand if it does not start when the switch is on could be a mechanical problem.
