in o8 there was a recall to fix cruise control due to the fact that it was found that it could cause an electric fire and burn both the car and be a fire hazard to home or area(garage etc) they recalled and disconnected the unit on most people due to the fact the replacement equipment was not available but they wished to remove the hazard. everyone i know who had it done including myself ended going back in a month and they replaced unit then
After some work on the vehicle such as replacement of the main vacuum system, when the cruise control is disabled during the work, it looses its communications with the main system. The only way to fix this is to have the programing uploaded to it by a ford dealer.
Sorry I am not sure where the computer is...but just in case you are having the same problem I had with my Liberty/Legacy GT...no cruise control working and the light on constantly...I fixed it by replacing the O2 sensor, even though the dealer wanted to sell me a computer. Good luck. :)
$644.00 New from your local Ford Lincoln Dealer.
go to the dealer ship
take it to a dealer it is most likely the clock spring, and it is a recall item, so they will fix it for free, had mine done just last year
The problem is a faulty brake light switch and there is a recall for that concern. Contact your nearest VW Dealer for more information.
You can't- You have to buy the whole cruise control buttons ( about 85 bucks from the dealer).
Usually the cruise amplifier has failed - replaced mine (had dealer do it actually, it's up under the steering column and I am a poor mechanic) with a rebuilt part I found on the 'net for about $250, far cheaper than a new MB part. Cruise works perfectly now.
It's the Throttle Actuator Control Module,Dealer repair price of around $600.00. Good Luck :-)
If you mean the CONTROLS on the steering column (audio and cruise control buttons) are not working, there is a module buried deep within the steering column that allows the wiring from these controls (as well as the airbag) to maintain their connections to the vehicle circuitry even while the steering wheel is turning. It is called a "clockspring", and it's a bear to replace. Runs $350-500 at the dealer. This problem is very common to the LS.
dealer ship,in the parts department
I had the same problem. It is the clock spring in the steering column and I took it to the dealer and they fixed without charge it under a recall. Check out Chrysler's web page for recalls.
