You have to remove the panel around the cluster which has 2 screws at the top facing upward. Once removed pull from top down and gently pull towards you to release the 2 clips holding it in from the bottom. That will expose the instrument cluster which has 4 screws securing it. Remove those screws and pull towards you gently and release the connectors then remove cluster. You'll have to remove the bulbs and the white cover to expose the speedo and its screws. Be gentle when removing the white cover(clips and screws). P.S. get the speedo from a scrap yard and save yourself some money. Good luck, RICK
Speed sensor on rear of transmission where speedometer drive used to be. If ecm receives no speed data transmission, it will send no shift signal.
When I worked for Chrysler the Neons were doing the same thing and the cluster needed to be replaced (Bad soldering job from factory). Call Chrysler to see if they have a recall for this problem. If they do it will be replaced for free.
Don't know what you're working on but it sounds like you have accidently disconnected the speedometer cable from the speedometer. Check it out.
I Have the same issue. Red Light on the speedo stays on. It seems to refer to an electrical problem. Ive discovered that my brake lights dont work sometimes. Could be the cause. Im off to HD today. 2012 Dyna FXDWG
have you replaced the stock tires with bigger tire you need to have speedo recalibrated thru the computer.take it to a technition
check to see if thers a speed sensor unit failure from the transmission.. Had this problem on a Caddy

You need to bleed the clutch
Your problem could be in two locations F. Garay == ==
If your speedometer cable has it's outer cover frayed, it is slowly leaking transmission oil, leading to loss of lube, heating up and damaging your transmission.Replaced two trannies before I realized what the real problem was. Replaced speedo cable (with new rubber gasket), end of problem. Make sure tranny is properly topped off with 80 wt. gear oil.
