What causes the temperature to go up when idling and down when moving on a 1994 Ford Explorer 4.0?

As long as the engine temperature doesn't move into the extremely hot range, then this is just normal operation for the engine's cooling system. When an engine is running at idle speed with the vehicle stopped, there is no air flow coming through the grill to assist in cooling the radiator. Only the engine's fan system is doing any of the cooling at idle speed. For this reason, the engine temperature will increase somewhat at idle in a non-moving vehicle. Once you start moving, even though the engine RPMs increase causing more heat, the air flow forced through the vehicle's front grill and through the radiator cooling fins compensates for the added heat and decreases the engine temperature. Note however, if the temperature is moving into the extreme hot area on the dash gage when the vehicle is idling and not moving, there may be issues with the engine's cooling system.

Why does the engine temperature rise when the car idles?

Engine temperature rising when the engine is idling is normal. The car is sitting still and no air is entering the engine compartment. This will cause the engine temperature to rise. The cooling fans then come on and the engine returns to a normal temperature. Unless the cooling fans do not bring the temperature down, you have no problems and this is totally normal.

Why does the cooling fan stay on when the engine is off on your 1995 Volkswagen Jetta?

When operating properly, the cooling fan stays on until the temperature drops to normal.

Cooling fan will not shut off?

The cooling fan will turn off when the temperature drops to normal temperature. When the temperature generated by the device does not cause damage to the device, or when the device is no longer in use, the cooling fan will be turned off.The above answer is provided by Suzhou Santian Precision Mould Manufacturing Co., Ltd.

Is it normal for the cooling fan on a 1994 Camaro V6 to turn on when car is nearing red temperature?

Cooling fan should come on either when coolant temperature reaches 235 degrees or the A/C or defroster is turned on

How can water in an engine stay a liquid when the temperature is above its normal boiling point?

The cooling system is pressurized and requires a higher temperature to reach boiling.

What is the operating temperature for a 1998 camaro 3.8?

What is the normal engine temperature for a Volkswagen Passat wagon?

the normal running engine temperature on the passat is 195 degrees , most of the time the primary cooling fan gives out and they run somewhat warmer than that.a belt connects the primary and secondary cooling fans ! you may check the belt if your passat is running warm.

Your temp gage goes up then back down when idling?

It is normal for a temperature gauge to go up a little bit until the thermostat opens up and the cooling fan comes on. As long as it is not going out of the normal temperature range it is fine.
