Absolutely. 3M makes a plastic polishing compound and I'm sure there are others on the market. You may need to use an electric buffer if you can't put enough muscle into it on your own. As always, test a small portion first.
Stock headlight motor assemblies have a plastic gear that will wear out. The gear alone may be replaced with another plastic or a metal gear. These parts may be found at www.ecklers.com The metal gear costs $60
undo the two 3/32 bolts running thru headlamp assemblies and remove headlamp assembly to access bulb
Each headlight should have two (or three?) plastic clips that look somewhat like a six inch ruler holding it in. Pull the clips upward to release, then slide the headlamp assy. forward.
The front bumper facia needs to be removed to access headlamp assemblies.
No, the headlamp assembly is a single unit.
You have to remove the headlamp assembly, this is easy to remove but difficult to install also your headlight alignment may be out after. First remove the plastic cover on the top of the headlamps in front, it extends across the top of the front engine compartment and covers both headlamps. Remove the plastic tabs which hold it in place, be careful they break easily. After removing the cover locate 2 metal L-brackets, located at the rear of the headlamp. The L-brackets are located on the left and right rear of the headlamp. Pull the tabs towards the engine and up, there is a notch on the L-bracket which holds it down. After puling both L-brackets out the headlamp assembly can be removed. To install is the a problem, you can loosen the headlamp alignment screw and this will make it easier to re-insert the L-Bracket, but you will need to re-align the assembly. Be careful because the plastic mounts on the headlamp break easily with pressure and are difficult to align back in. If the alignment screws are not moved then you have to force the assembly back into place and re-insert the L-Bracket. Conclusion- if you're not mechanical don't do it. Second the Pontiac Mechanical engineer who deigned this clearly has a relative in the parts department because the plastic headlamp assemblies break easily.
just behind the headlamp lens assemblies you'll find little plastic doors that you open to access the bulbs,.... pay attention to the location of the lowbeam bulb lens before you open the doors or you'll be replacing the highbeam bulbs. it's straighforward from there--just unplug the old bulb, plug in the new one and shut the little plastic door.
Hi,The headlamp bulb is relatively easy to replace in these vans. What you have to do is remove the turn signal assembly first, and then the headlamp assembly. This is done by removing 3 wing nuts that hold the assemblies in, and then pulling the turn signal assembly straight out, followed by the headlamp assembly. The headlamp assembly has to be lifted UP and then Out.Once you have the assembly out, the headlight bulb can be unscrewed from the back of the assembly and replaced. Be careful not to get any oil from your fingers on the new bulb, as that will heat up when the light is on and decrease the lifetime of the bulb.I have included a link below that shows pictures of the assemblies and how to removed them.Take Care, Greg
To effectively buff plastic surfaces and restore their shine and smoothness, you can use a mild abrasive cleaner or polish specifically designed for plastics. Apply the cleaner or polish to the surface and buff in a circular motion using a soft, clean cloth. Repeat as needed until the desired shine and smoothness are achieved.
To make plastic shiny, you can use a plastic polish or a wax specifically designed for plastics. Apply the polish or wax to the plastic surface and buff it in a circular motion until it becomes shiny.
STEP 1*This must be done when headlamps are cool. recommend you do this in a cool, shaded area. Clean Headlamp lens with windex, using terry cloth or sponge to remove dirt, bugs guts and any road tar.Step 2*Apply Mirror glaze cleaner / Tooth paste first, using terry cloth in a circular motion. allow to dry.(1 min)Buff clean, re-apply as needed to get clean.Step 3Apply mirror glaze polish after first initial cleaning. Buff using terry cloth. Re-apply again if needed. If the dull is on the outside of the headlamp, you should see big difference in clarity.(If it is on the inside of the lamp, it may need replacing)This also can be used on dullness or scratches in plastic tail lamps also
In the 2009 the horn (pathetic thing that it is) is under the drivers side headlamp. The headlamp comes out with two screws on the top and you might need to remove the plastic buttons to allow the front grill to flex a little to get the headlamp out. I have not located the SPST relay yet, if there is one.
