To change the ignition on a 1997 Oldsmobile LSS, start by disconnecting the negative battery terminal to ensure safety. Remove the steering column covers to access the ignition switch, then disconnect the wiring harness from the ignition. Use a screwdriver to remove any screws securing the ignition switch, and replace it with the new one. Reassemble the steering column, reconnect the battery, and test the ignition to ensure it's functioning properly.

To change the supercharger oil on a 1997 Oldsmobile LSS, start by locating the supercharger's oil fill plug, usually found on the side of the supercharger unit. Remove the plug and use a pump to extract the old oil from the supercharger reservoir. Once drained, replace it with the appropriate supercharger oil, ensuring it's filled to the correct level as specified in the owner's manual. Finally, reattach the fill plug securely and check for leaks.
The 1997 Oldsmobile LSS is known for transmission issues primarily due to design flaws and inadequate cooling. The transmission may overheat, especially if the fluid is not regularly maintained or if the cooling system fails. Additionally, worn components or poor driving habits can exacerbate these problems, leading to premature transmission failure. Regular maintenance and monitoring can help mitigate these issues.
Where is the ignition module 97 explorer
Do you mean the electrical ignition switch or the cylinder lock and key..?
On my Lss 1997 it was the Positive battery cable. It was making a good connection to start the car but it wasn't making a good connection to keep the interior lights on. May need to take the positive cable loose and see if one is corroded and either clean it or replace it.
They are incorporated in each spark plug wire.
pull the two bolts buy new or used ignition coil the replace the ignition coil is on th left side of motor right by the tbi
The steering and ignition will become locked on a 97 Chevy Cavalier if the key is not inserted into the ignition and turned. This helps to prevent theft.
just above the alternator wheel. there is a square hole on the top side of the tensioner.
On my 97 it is on the passenger side basically in front of the glove box, but it is a decent arms length into the engine compartment. If you are standing on the passenger side looking into the engine, look directly below the torsion bar behind the alternator in front of the glove box. Thanks, Josh
