Check Transmission Fluid level Try changing transmission fluid and filter
I really don't think that's possible.
The serpentine belt is broke or loose. Replace the belt
The transmission for the 1996 Chevy 3500 could be jumping from overdrive for several reasons. The transmission could have a vacuum or electrical problem causing it to come out of overdrive. Or, there could be an internal valve problem causing this to happen.
The overdrive. Try driving it with the overdrive off.
These transmission are rear wheel drive 4 speed automatics, that are all computer controlled. Common reasons for the overdrive light flashing are the external sensors on the vehicle like the throttle position sensor or vehicle speed sensor quite often go bad, causing these symptoms. Always run a scanner first to see if a sensor is causing your problem.
Does your car have a remote for keyless entry? I recently had to program a remote for a 1992 Cutlass Supreme. The procedure involves removing the trim on the passenger side of the trunk, near where the antenna sits on a 2 dr. Once you pull off the trim, you should see a wire with a black connector on the end, coming from the passenger compartment of the car. To program a remote, you use a piece of wire to go from this connector to a ground on the car. As long as this connection is made, the power door locks will cycle back and forth. To program a remote, you push the buttons while this cycling is going on, then unground the connection. I don't believe that this connection has anything to do with the taillights, but if your wiring bundle is chaffed somewhere, this could be grounding out the wire for the remote programming, causing your locks to cycle. One of the wires for the tailights may also be chaffed, causing the problems with them. Good luck. Sounds like an overdrive problem. The transmission is kicking in and out of overdrive causing it to overwork and get too hot. turn the overdrive off and try it.
your engine might be overheated, causing the vibrations
It is not recommended to pull a trailer with automatic trans in overdrive, put in drive only. When attempting to pull without locking out overdrive, trans will continue to shift from drive to 0verdrive causing a massive heat buildup. Heat is not good for automatic transmissions, and will eventually cause failure, causing your wallet a very bad day!
yes due to unsteady lubrication your parts are heating up and causing to much friction your best bet is to replace the oil pump and you can also make sure your coolant is strong enough to help with keeping your engine cool
Rear Calipers sticking. Replace the calipers and drain and flush the entire brake system. In addition, replacing the rotors when you install new pads will make them last longer. Worn rotors will not mate properly to the new pads, causing uneven wear.
not too much of a car buff, but I do know that the power steering pump is on the left side of the engine, right next to or under the pully system for the fan belt. power steering fluid is clear. It could be your power steering pump, or a bad seal on a hose causing it to leak.
