No I personally couldn't have but... It is completely hypothetical but some say, yes, the war could have been avoided. It is important to note that the Revolutionary War had its roots back a century to the Glorious Revolution of England, when King Charles I threatened to make New England a royal colony under his direct control. However over the next century, the English turned to a "salutary neglect" policy which left the colonies to govern themselves. You know the rest when King George attempted to recontrol and restrict the economy and government of the colonies in the 1760s and 1770s. This started the war. There are a few schools of thought of how King George could have regained control over the colonies without causing rebellion. 1. England could have continued its policy of "salutary neglect" and loosened its reign over the colonies, allowing them to become a sort of commonwealth. Hopefully, this would encourage loyalty to the crown, but it would have not been as profitable. 2. One radical thought is that England could have allowed partial independence to the New England colonies, where the rebellion began. After all, the South tended to be more sympathic to the English. Unless faced with total slaughter; any war can be avoided. War is simply the obtaining of a political goal by other than political means.
Definitions:
1. If a peoples is going to be slaughtered anyway...no matter what they say or do, then there will be war (simply to survive).
2. If a peoples want something done, and their adversary does it, then no war. If they don't do it, then it's war (obtaining a political objective by other than a political way).
No, I don't think so. The British took a view that the colonies were spoiled children and needed to be spanked. In doing so they shut the door on any conversation about what was wrong and how to correct it. The distance between the two also was getting greater because more and more people saw themselves as American and not British.
the revolutionary could have been avoided if the colonies would have approved the Albany plan of union proposed by Benjamen Franklin which states that the colonies should unite and form a army. if we passed it Brittan wouldn't have sent troops here so we would not be taxed for the soldiers for the French and Indian war therefore the events leading up to the American revolution also the revolution itself would have never happened. also if Britain had given westminster respresentation to the colonies it would have been avoided
If the british was able to accept some ideas of the colonies, and a little more opened minded to the colonists, the war could of been avoided.
Independence Day has been celebrated by the American people since July 4, 1776, with the signing of the Declaration of Independence from Great Britain and the Crown. No one individual started it, although John Adams had written in a letter to his wife Abigail that it would become the most celebrated day in American history.
In a charter colony all the people who selected the Governor had a say in all the matters, so any promblem could be delt by the people and revolutions would have been avoided.
Nothing. at the time of the war the English were untested in spreading their authority as far and as wide as they could. The Americas were a source of income for them and they felt that they had the power to keep it.
no
Yes, but we wouldnt have had the allies that we did.
The Vietnam War might have been avoided, if communism had not been involved.
The Boston Police Strike couldve been avoided if Chuck Norris was there
ANY WAR can be avoided; but man likes war.
Yes. They could have avoided war with the american colonists because they could've just asked for peace. Accept they were stupid and did not want to stop fighting for their stupidity-just kidding. They were stupid though. They could've just made up with the Americans
The Reign of Terror have been avoinded if france didn't have a dictartorship for their country.

That couldn't have been avoided, it was in the nature of an island empire, inhabited by a homogeneous people.
