How did the state constitution contribute to the constitution?

The constitutions of the states were often the proving ground for new amendments. For instance, the Wyoming Constitution allowed women to vote. After a while, a new amendment was added to the US Constitution allowing women to vote.

I would say yes. The state constitutions probably gave each founding father from that state a general idea of what a constitution should look like. Or if they hated their state's constitution it may have given them ideas about how a constitution should NOT look like. And indeed several of the founding fathers were already prominent politicians locally or throughout the thirteen colonies, so some of them may have well had a hand in drafting their state's constitution (sadly my own knowledge and a superficial attempt at internet research yield no specific examples of this, so I am mostly just speculating on that point). I believe all of that would have played a fairly important role in at least the writing of the Articles of Confederation, if not the later Constitution as well. The Articles were their first attempt at a National constitution, and although it created a very weak government that deferred to the individual states in many areas, it would have been influenced by many of the same ideas that crafted the state constitutions of the time. The actual US Constitution was written after the Articles were deemed inadequate and discarded, and it created a national government with much more authority than the Articles did, but again many of the same ideas about government were still circulating the colonies at the time, so some of the ideas behind some of the individual state constitution would have played a role in the writing of the national constitution. Keep in mind the independent state constitutions started being drafted in 1776 when independence was declared, the Articles were submitted to the states for ratification in 1777, and the US Constitution was adopted by 11 of the states in 1787. All of these documents were developed within one decade of each other, and thus a lot of the same ideas went into each of them and they were influenced by some of the same minds.
