NO NO AND NO. Never use any fluid in any other part of any car other than where it is supposed to go. The mechanic is a moron, I'm sorry to say that, and this goes for ANY CAR, ANY MAKE OR MODEL. Would you use motor oil in a brake master cyliner, Would you pour brake fluid in your engine? Would you pour coolant in your transmission? NO! Why? Because different fluids flow differently in their respective areas. Coolant is a liquid because it has to be able to move FREELY from the engine to the radiator and back again. Engine oil is thick because it generally has to stay in one place to keep the engine at a good temperature. Should you use gear oil for your Power Steering, (oh dear god I hope you don't) , you may wind up replacing your ENTIRE power steering system, which will cost a LOT. I'm talking about lines, pumps, etc. So, the answer is NO.

If a car has a bad shift solenoid is the car driveable until it is able to get fixed?

If you have a bad shift solenoid, DO NOT DRIVE THE CAR!!! The shift solenoid may get you around but only for a limited time. It could actually go out at any time. Your best bet is not to drive the car at all...not even to the dealership or repair shop. Not only can this leave you stranded, but could cause an accident on the hiways or city streets. Think safety first. I would have the car towed to your mechanic rather than drive it there, if at all possible.

Can you drive a car if it has a boiling radiator?

How do you get the key to turn for a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo if it is locked into place?

sometimes if you parked with wheels not straight the steering lock will engage and be tight in the steering column if this is the problem, just move the steering wheel a bit so it frees up a little it will only move one way if this is the cause then while holding steering wheel away from where it was, see if key will turn if this doesnt work, get a steering column specialist to come out and fix ignition

Ford explorer 02 Clutch Master Cylinder repair manuals?

To post a manual or excerpt from a manual in this area would constitute a violation of copyright law. Instead of repairing it, why not just replace both the master and slave so the truck is fixed?

How do you replace power steering hoses on a 2002 Ford Explorer?

Take your Ford Explorer UT to your local mechanic (garage) if you don't know how to change it, for those who know it's ok, so you can just avoid stuff like a leaking hose not well-replaced, the hose has to be fixed to the pump with a well fitted o-ring...the pump should need a maintenance as well so just take it to the mechanician...safe

Is it safe to drive a car with a fuel line leak to a mechanic?

It is not safe to drive a vehicle with a fuel leak, but if this is the only way to get it to be fixed, be careful that the leak is not that bad if you drive it. A trickle is bad, any more than that and driving it would not be advised.
